| The idea of this project arose during the production of a documentary film, while a film team accompanied Márcio Tubino and Martin Kälberer for one day in the recording studio to register the incurrence of free improvised music:
"We wanted to find out what would happen when we come together without any compositional standards and many different instruments and just - play! Not even a key was arranged. We were completely dependent on the inspiration, the magic of the moment and the communication with each other." What you can hear now on this CD is the result of an exciting meeting, a really intuitive musical interaction with the most different mediums, sometimes free and spherical, sometimes rhythmic and impulsive and also gentle and melodious. Quite natural structures came up, which sound like composed and let the listener enter and take him on a little sound trip through many different musical worlds. Beside each main instruments - Márcio Sax and Flute, Martin the Piano - they experimented with partly kind of unusual sound bodies. So Márcio Tubino also plays beside some Indian Flutes and the Brazilian Pandeiro a Chinese fan as percussion instrument. Martin Kälberer plays the Udu-Drum, a clay vase from Nigeria, the Hang (Bernese dialect for "hand"), a instrument related with the steeldrum, the African thumb piano Kalimba, the Waterphone, a scurrile metal construction with water inside and also on an old oil drum. |
